Aviary launches web based audio editor Myna

Aviary, the online service that offers a number of web based applications for graphics designers, is now targeting amateur sound artists and hobbyists by launching a web based audio editing tool named Myna.

Those who are familiar with audio editors and DJ applications like Garage Band for Mac or Fruity Loops for PC, will feel immediately at home. Myna is a multi track audio editor that allows you to mix number of tracks together, apply sound effects and such. It lets users drag and drop sections of sound tracks and mix with each other, split tracks, add various sound effects etc. Again those who are familiar with any sound editing program like Audacity or the previously reviewed Free Audio Editor, will able to figure out the various tools and control on the interface. Actions such as zooming into a track for precise trimming, copying, pasting etc are all supported.

Myna allows you to load up to 15 tracks not more than 5 minutes in length into the editor for mixing. The application also lets you record tracks up to a minute long with your microphone. Alternatively, you can import sound clips from Aviary’s extensive sound library.

Highlights of Myna Features

  • Powerful Clip Editing: Trim, Loop, Stretch and Reverse your audio clips, width editable loop points, and interactive time stretch capabilities.
  • Automation: Easily add fade-ins, fade-outs, pan from left to right, and modify gain over time, with editable control points.
  • Effects: Add non-destructive effects to your audio clips including Pitch Change, Reverb, Delay, Parametric EQ, and more.
  • Import / Export: Import your own audio files, or search one of our provided libraries. Mix it down and export directly to your desktop or publish back to your account.

Like all Aviary’s tools, Myna is free to use. However, projects created using free accounts are publicly available online. If you want some privacy and need to protect your work, you’ll have to shell out $25 yearly.
