The primary function of Calibre is ebook management. It’s just like organizing your music collection. Just point the program to the folder where you have saved your ebooks and it will automatically scan and add it to the library.

Calibre supports sorting of books in its database by: Title, Author, Date, Publisher, Rating, Size, Series etc. Additionally you can add meta information to each ebook like comments or tags. Instead of entering metadata manually, you can fetch metadata from the internet for a book based on its ISBN number or its title. It can also fetch a cover image based on the ISBN number.

calibre2Calibre can also convert a wide range of ebook formats like CBZ, CBR, CBC, EPUB, FB2, HTML, LIT, MOBI, ODT, PDF etc, from one format to another. The conversion supports advanced typesetting features like tables, dropcaps, inline images, embedded fonts, etc.

The software’s syncing feature currently supports the SONY PRS 300/500/505/700, Cybook Gen 3, Amazon Kindle (1 and 2), iPhone and Android phones. If a book has more than one format available, Calibre automatically chooses the best format when uploading to the device.

Then Calibre functions as an RSS reader too. It fetches RSS feeds and formats it into an ebook and upload the same to a connected device, if it’s configured to do so. This allows you to read your favorite sites in your ebook reader. And of course, Calibre has a ebook reader too.

If your really into ebooks, this is the best software you can get.

However, there are times when you may want to change the cover photo frequently and periodically to match event dates or some special promotion that you are running or plan to run. So, here is how you can do that.
