Microsoft Image Composite Editor – Advanced panorama creator

Microsoft Image Composite Editor is an advanced panoramic image stitcher for Windows that can create high-resolution panoramas from a set of overlapping photographs of a scene shot from a single camera location.

Image Composite Editor is capable of handling hundreds of images at a time and the images need not be numbered sequentially. Simply select the images and the software will automatically detect the overlapping and layout the images in the correct order, and even discard images that doesn’t match or got into the selection erroneously.

Apart from auto-panorama creating, Image Composite Editor also has a structured panorama creating mode where you can force the software to stitch images in a particular pattern. For this to work you have to number the images in sequence and then instruct the software to layout the images in the desired number of rows or columns.

The resulting panorama can be saved in a wide variety of image formats, from common formats like JPEG and TIFF to the multi-resolution tiled format used by Silverlight's Deep Zoom and by the HD View and HD View SL panorama viewers.

Features:

  • Accelerated stitching on multiple CPU cores greatly reduces stitching time
  • Ability to publish, view, and share panoramas on the Photosynth web site
  • Support for "structured panoramas"
  • No image size limitation — stitch gigapixel panoramas
  • Automatic exposure blending
  • Choice of planar, cylindrical, or spherical projection
  • Orientation tool for adjusting panorama rotation
  • Automatic cropping to maximum image area
  • Wide range of output formats, including JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PNG, HD Photo, and Silverlight Deep Zoom

Microsoft Image Composite Editor is available for Windows XP through 7 and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit editions.
