Adobe Flash Player 10.1 now available for download

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 final is now officially available for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. Those who are running the Release Candidate of Flash 10.1 that Adobe made available on April can now upgrade to the “stable” release (yes, an oxymoron, I know) from the download page.

Version 10.1 brings several changes to the plug-in apart from the much touted hard acceleration. Flash 10.1 is reported to be more green with improvements to conserve resources, reduce power usage and extend battery life. Flash Player can now automatically reduce the power consumption for content running in the background on a non-visible browser tab to improve performance when users are multitasking.

Flash Player 10.1 will also abide by the host browser's private browsing mode (where local data and browsing activity are not cached on the local system) providing a consistent private browsing mechanism between SWF and HTML content.
