Jotti's malware scan is a free online service that enables you to scan suspicious files with several anti-virus programs. At the time of this writing, every uploaded file to Jotti is scanned by 19 different anti-virus scanners including Kaspersky, Avast, AntiVir, AVG, Nod32, BitDefender, Panda, F-Secure and more.
Jotti is a wonderful service but like most online malware scanners, it’s a rather pain in the neck to use. For one, it does not support batch upload nor queuing of multiple files ahead of time; so you have to upload and scan them a single file at a time. If that’s not difficult enough, the file uploading process takes place inside your browser - being an online scanner - and not through Windows explorer, and thus lack drag and drop support and other convenient features of explorer.
JottiQ is a tool that makes Jotti's malware scan more convenient to use. Using JottiQ you can drag files from Windows explorer and drop it into the program’s window. If you don’t like drag-and-drop, you can integrate JottiQ with explorer and submit files for scanning directly from the context menu.
Files added are queued up for submission and then uploaded up to three files at a time for simultaneous scanning. This greatly improves file uploading and scan times. JottiQ also uses Jotti's internal cache to speed up scans by avoiding the uploading of files that have already been scanned in the past. Again, this is something you can’t do when accessing Jotti using your browser.
Results of the scan are displayed within the program itself.
Furthermore, JottiQ has the ability to submit all running processes to Jotti’s malware scanner with the click of a single button. This enables you to examine the legitimacy of all running programs, known and unknown, using Jotti’s multiple-engine virus scanners. Unfortunately, the 20 MB file upload limit that Jotti imposes on us destroys what could have been a very handy feature.
Jotti is still a great service, and JottiQ makes it even better.
