STAMP is a subtitling Add-In for Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 that allows users to add closed captions or subtitles to video and audio files included in their presentations, enabling those with hearing disabilities to easily follow the video or audio. STAMP is also helpful for including subtitles in a different language than one the video or audio is on.
Closed captions can be added either by creating the captions from within PowerPoint or by importing an existing W3C standard Timed Text Mark-up Language (TTML) file. You can also edit captions imported from a TTML file using the simple subtitle editor in STAMP.
After installing this plugin, an ‘Add captions’ button becomes available under the Playback tab in the ribbon. Note, that the Playback tab is visible only when you select the embedded video or audio file.
Clicking on the ‘Add caption’ button in the Captions Editor inserts caption at the time where the playback slider is positioned. You can adjust the start and end time of any caption by manipulating the playback slider and using ‘Set Start Time’ and ‘Set End Time’ buttons.
If captions for your media have already been created and saved as a TTML file, you can just import them. It’s a shame that you cannot import regular and popularly used subtitles file such as SRT or SUB.
To customize appearance of the subtitle, right click on the subtitle shape in the PowerPoint slide and adjust font size, color, background color etc.
STAMP is compatible only with Microsoft PowerPoint 2010. If you are using an older version of MS Office and want to add subtitles to the videos, you have to hard code the subtitles into the video file.
