Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 1 is Out

Internet Explorer 9 is barely months old when Microsoft announced Internet Explorer 10 at its MIX developer conference in Las Vegas, yesterday. Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 1 is the first public preview of the IE10 web platform. In this release, Microsoft is showcasing support for CSS3 Flexbox, CSS3 Grid Alignment, CSS3 Multi-column, CSS3 Gradients on background-images and ECMAScript5 Strict Mode.

The platform preview, as you must be aware, is not a full blown browser, for example, the Preview does not have an address bar or a back button and therefore cannot be a replacement for your regular browser. The Internet Explorer Platform Preview is just a light-weight frame around the core IE platform which includes the rendering and layout, object model, parsing, and script engines, allowing users to experience the latest developments.

The Platform Preview can be be installed, side by side, with whichever version of IE you are currently using. Of course, like IE9, you must be running either Windows Vista and Windows 7 to test drive IE10.

Internet Explorer 10 is rumored to be released as a full fledged browser along with Windows 8.
