Trillian 5 Released. All Pro Features Become Free

One of the best multi-platform, multi-protocol, IM application – Trillian, has just been updated to the latest version 5 that brings to the free users all features previously available only to paying customers, in return for some unobtrusive advertisements. The latest version includes a beautiful new interface, vastly improved social integration, cloud-based chat history, and synchronization of open IMs between all your devices.

Trillian supports multiple IM protocols such as AOL, Bonjour, Google Talk, ICQ, IRC, Jabber, Skype, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Facebook, Foursquare, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter as well as IMAP and POP email accounts. That’s a lot! Trillian also supports themes, customizable status messages, file transfer, sound and visual alert for new messages, and more.

All previous Trillian Pro features such as the ability to sign in from multiple locations, themes, the activity history viewer, bookmarks, switching between clients and others are now available to all users. The Pro services are still available at $12 a year or $1 a month, and will get rid of the ads from the program.

Trillian is a free download for Windows and Mac, as well as iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry.
